My Verishop Obsession...

TLDR: With little more than couple of referrals and a used condom, you can get $75 worth of stuff at Verishop that never goes on sale for about $30. Or for free, if you coordinate with a significant other or person.

What is Verishop?

It's Imran Khan's (the former Chief Strategy Officer of Snapchat) new venture to take on Amazon through a more expensive and curated shop. Think nice shirts, Oribe hair stuff, fancy candles, home goods (oooh...their plants!), etc.

What's the Deal?

If you spend buy $75 worth of stuff at Verishop, you'll only spend about $30. If you and a significant other (or roommate) coordinate together, you'll get $150 worth of stuff for free.

How did I do it?

  • Sign-up for Ratuken (link)

  • Use the Ratuken website to go to Verishop

  • Use a Verishop Referral code (link)

  • You'll get an email with a code for $25 off

  • Use the emailed code when you make your purchase

How does it break down?

  • You get $25 for the Verishop referral

  • You get $10 + 10% for using Ratuken

Here is an example:

  • If you get $75 of stuff at Verishop, you get...

    • $25 for the Verishop referral

    • $10 for joining Ratuken

    • At least $7.5 (10%) for using Ratuken*

My experience was that Ratuken gave me 10% of the "full price" of my purchases, so if you had bought stuff on sale for $75, but it was originally $100, Ratuken will give you $10 back, instead of $7.50. Not sure if it was an error, but it happened to me... could be on accident (or a repeatable, exploitable hack).

Time Value of Money: Affirm

Verishop uses Affirm, which allows you to pay over time with no interest. Also, the first payment is a full month from the purchase date. Its honestly idiotic not to use this — time value of money — put that money into a Roth IRA or into Bitcoin, people!

What's the Catch?

  • You only get $10 for joining Ratuken if you haven't signed up before.

  • The Ratuken $$ gets paid out every couple of months to your paypal, so you have to wait until 8/15 for that money back, but it automatically goes to your paypal account.

  • The links above are my referral codes, so I get credit if you use my links. I won't be too hurt if you change up the referral codes to your own when you pass it along — it's about spreading the wealth in times of crisis (or corona). If you pass it along to just one significant other or roommate, and share the referral $$, you'll end up getting $60 in credit. Therefore both purchases of $150 of stuff will be free :)
