About Edward

 

Edward Santos is an operational strategist and project manager residing in New York, New York. Currently, Edward works in the Practice Group of 2U, where he supports the building and management of technology that enables the best learning outcomes for students enrolled in 2U-powered programs.

Previously, Edward has managed and consulted for: 

  • Complex clinical trials at TrialSpark, a biotechnology startup, focused on bringing life-saving treatments to patients faster.

  • The expansion of free pre-K at the NYC Department of Education where Edward worked extensively on the roll-out of the Pre-K for All Initiative, a multi-agency, multi-million dollar project to expand free pre-K seats to 70,000 children in New York City.

  • Financial services, nonprofits, and political campaigns where Edward streamlined various processes including high-volume hiring, new office construction, and other change management work.

In 2018, Edward became an Asana Certified Professional, selected to work with customers and clients across multiple companies to help them implement, learn, and use Asana with their teams. 

In addition to operations and project management expertise, Edward has an extensive background in education. As a 2007 Teach For America corps member, Edward completed his two-year service commitment teaching mathematics at Central Park East Secondary School in East Harlem, New York. During his teaching tenure, 90% of his students passed at least one state mathematics assessment. 

Outside of his work, Edward is heavily involved in the East Harlem community. In 2011, Edward was elected Treasurer of Manhattan’s Community Board 11 (CB11), responsible for the Board’s budget and revenue-generating process. Edward also created the License and Permits committee on CB11 to help organize local permitting in the community. In 2013, Edward Santos ran for New York City Council in District 8 (East Harlem and the South Bronx) where he advocated and helped start the conversation for universal pre-K.

Edward has a Bachelor’s in Statistics at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor and a Master’s of Science in Teaching in Mathematics at Pace University. In his spare time, he enjoys CrossFit, soccer, and volunteering.
